The Syrian civil war has been going one for a while now and has gotten very serious very quickly. Syria has seen a lot of civilian deaths and the most destructions ever recorded in history.
There are rebel camps in Syria that have been seriously targeted by the Syrian government and any attempts to bring this stalemate to an end has not born any fruits. What is happening instead is that there are very many Syrian civilians that have been detained in the Syrian jails unfairly and facing a lot of emotional, physical and sexual abuse in jail. Syria also has desolate cities that are now covered with debris and dead besides where there once was life and beauty. There are hundreds if not thousands of refugees in the neighboring countries now who have nothing they can.
Iran, however, has for decades been funding, training and offering weapons to militia and terror groups while offering them shelter at the same time. The country has declined any advice to stop doing so from the international community. It hasn’t come out too clearly why Iran is doing this but it is a badly kept secret. The US government has tried unsuccessfully to get involved in stopping these vices but without much luck. Iran has been arming itself for decades now and there are extremely heavy and high tech weapons in the country.
The government under the regime of president Assad was supported by the Iranian government since the Syrian war began. The support given by the Iranian government went a long way to making sure that Assad’s regime stood and without this support, the government would have been overthrown very early. Iran has given Syria military support and training just to make sure that the government is not overturned. Iran has trained military groups both in Syria and in Lebanon who would join the war and be well-equipped to fight against the opposition rebels.
When the war just started, Iran helped the government fight but only by offering training for the regime force and also giving them intelligence. When things got thick and the war has escalated, Iran decided to go all in and include her own military in the fight. Iran has also helped Syria build its chemical weapons. She has sent her scientists to Syria and even provided the chemicals needed to build these weapons.
The arms cannot be transported by road nor by train, the only way Iran gets these weapons to Syria is by air. There is an air corridor they established to get the arms both to Syria and to Lebanon through Syria. The US government have given Iran the go-ahead to transport these weapons via three airlines. Turkish authorities are said to have confiscated a truck which was headed for Syria and was full of weapons.
